From the Top

I stood on the stoop, steep in thought
wondering if I should take that step
I was trying to think of the thoughts
that most men would contemplate in an hour of despair
.....A blank was drawn
The voices in my head increased my urgency to decide
So I decided.....
With a leap of faith, so to speak, I took that step
I crossed the threshold, to the point of no return
And when both feet were replanted in solid ground
Silence became me.
